WELLL excuse us mammma,
I thought that was why people asked questions on Yahoo.......to get help with the research.
As far as I have read, the US is only getting prepared in case of an epidemic. We have not had to actually close any zoos yet.
But there have been zoos in Thailand that were closed after some lions died that were fed chickens. The chickens were tested as having bird flu. As for how true that may all be, who knows.
I read it in an article on the Internet.
This is the site where I got my information. It has picture and everything.

This is another article.

Hope this helped.

NOTE My boo boo, I pasted the same site twice, this is the site about the lions.

No, its not true at all. Animals in a zoo are more then likely to be in better shape then in the wild. they are in much better shape because they have vets to tend to them, they always have food at hand and they have other friends. Also they have no risk of being hunted, there fore not dying as much as in the wild.

Are you the gullible sort who just accepts and believes everything that anyone says? Do your own research and see if what they say is true!! Before asking us! My answer: That does not sound right to me. A stupid rumor.
