Hey Mahi, Nice to meet someone from asia....I am from India...and am in the same situation as u r in....Ok, i just came from india..and it's gonna be only 1 yr...tell me where u r from? ok lets get to the situation...R u a high school student..if so, yes ur SAT scores must be a good one...did u take the old SAT or the new one...the new one is out of 2400 ..many competitive colleges prefer (like cornell , columbia etc) 2000...still other colleges prefer a maximum of 1800 and above...colleges not only look ur total score, but also the subscores ! ie, u need an avg of 500 for each of critical reading, math and writing .....U could take the sat more than once.....good that u have a community service in ur profile...colleges do look at them ! They also look at other extra curricular activities...then they look at ur high school schedule...whether u have taken the most hard courses of ur school...like AP, honors etc (hope u know that...) , u need to fulfill the graduation requirements like for ex: take gym classes, music, art, electives etc (depends on ur school )....then there are certain other things like teacher recommendation, parent recommendation, peer reccommendation, ur profiles etc (hope ur counselor has given that) ....The high school GPA is yet another factor..this grade point avg is the acg of the total points of ur full high school...usually it's out of 4...u need to get a min of 3 to go to good colleges...abd hey, if u r looking for pre-medicine, it would be nice to see more hard science courses on ur list....moreover taking AP classes could not only give u college preparation, but also the essential starting credits for ur college...it also helps saving the cost of ur college, since if u get a point of 3 or above for the Ap exam in ur school(which is out of 5) u needn't take the specific course again in ur college ! isn't that good? .....if u r in the final yr of ur school, do look at participating the most in school activities, join clubs and such things....College specifically look at ur 11th grade core courses since it is the critical part of high school....don't be lazy..some people take all the hard courses in their junior yr...and rest in their senior yr (ie, they take simple courses), so be active...take all the hard courses as much as possible ! Ok, these r some important things.....oh, for the pre-med....i am also looking for it....r u going to the community college or the 4 yr ones? if to the 4 yr ones, u need to take an exam called M-CAT during your 3rd yr....or u could escape this by joining in a college which gives u a straightway to medical college ( ie, by joining itself, u r being admitted to the medical college)...ok, if u have any further doubts, don't hesitate to mail me...
come to my profile and their's the contact ad.....or mail at arihta7@yahoo.com....All these above information are sincere from my part...the results of several inquisitions....u could rely on that ! go to www.collegeboard.com for more.... c ya ...have a good day :)) lol !

Most colleges and universities do not have specific requirements for taking a pre-med curriculum. You'll want to choose a major that will help prepare you for medical school (common options are biology, chemistry, and psychology) so there isn't much of a difference in applying to college for pre-medicine and applying for an engineering degree or philosophy. Grades, test scores, application essays, and extracurricular activities are pretty much all you can do to prepare.

Never underestimate the importance of the essays on an application. Always right what you truely think, not what you think they want to hear - the admission staff looks at thousands of applications a year - they can easily tell when they are getting lip service.

Pre-medicine is simply the courses required by medical schools. They usually include 1-2 semesters each of:
Organic Chemistry
Inorganic Chemistry
Physics
Math (Calculus)
Biology
English

You can do this through any accredited undergraduate university or college.

Well, you have to have graduated from high school too. Also, if you're not from the US, you may have to take the TOFEL to test your English proficiency. Every college has different requirements, though. I suggest picking which schools you want to attend and looking at their admission requirements.

You need to get your G.E.D. to be accepted in college. The g.e.d. is equivalent to High school diploma. Once in college, you can choose your major in medicine and from there, they'll advice you on what classes you need to take.
