Is he a human, or what - and what about Goldberry?

Bombadil is an odd character... something like a forest spirit. He is unique in that the Ring holds absolutely no power over him.... he wears it and does not disappear. He and Goldberry are most likely classified in the grey area of "not quite human."

Tom Bombadil is not a human. He was in Middle-Earth long before any Elves or Man. No evil has any power of him in his realm. Goldberry is his wife, who is a water-maid. she, as well as Tom, is immortal.

He's not human. He has extraordinary powers. I mean, like the same level/heirarchy as Saruman and Gandalf. Because there are the gods then the demigods then some levels then the levels of Gandalf and Sauron and Saruman. He belongs up there.
