But an accredited online university would be okay? Such as the University of Phoenix?

An associates degree from an on-line school is similar to an associates degree from a community college or junior college. Basically what it does is to indicate that you have attended or completed some of the class work and are supposed to have some knowledge of your line of work.
A Bachelors degree, which you receive from attending an accredited college or university is a much more valuable degree. It indicates that you not only have attended the college, but have also completed the required class work to the satisfaction of your teachers or professors. You might think of an Associates Degree as a starter. You should continue to work on furthering your education with a Bachelors. If you really get excited about learning, you might even go on for a Masters.

I don't like to discourage people from getting their education but I have an Associate's Degree and it's pointless. I ended up getting my Bachelor's Degree after seeing that it was useless.

Absolutely not. Their reputation STINKS and very few are accredited. When you get a degree, you pay for the name as well as the education.

like they've said, it's better than nothing.
