Your question is unanswerable.

How could we know that the universe is bigger than we think it is. If we knew that, then we would think it was bigger.

You need to be more careful in asking your questions.

You might think along the lines of, "Scientists currently believe Theory X, which would make the universe a certain size. How could I show that Theory X is wrong?"

We never know more than we think we know. We can only know that something we think, doesn't make sense. This is the idea of disproving something in science. We take two different theories, try to predict a result that is different for each theory. And then test the theories, and discard the false one. Then we keep trying it against new data and other new theories to constantly try to improve our understanding.

it is probably bigger than we know because the universe is infinate and expanding, if that makes sense to you. It just goes on for ever. The theory goes that the big bang created the universe and at one point it will stop expanding and then retract, not to scare anybody. Kind of like an explosion that you see in the movies that implodes upon it's self.

I don't really know. But, my guess is that we are probably completely wrong about what we know about the universe:) I saw a show on tv that there is a black hole that is slowly swallowing the entire universe, making it smaller every year, though.

We would probably never know, because it is billions of light years apart. And if scientists are right the universe is expanding every year ever since the "Big Bang."

yes I am convinced that we will never truly know the limits of our universe because, we are limited by the equipment that we create. We find with every knew generation of scientists that the previous generation has only scratched the surface.
