While Spanish is the second most spoken language in the United States English has an overwhelming majority, so the chances of Spanish becoming dominate is very small, at least in the span of 50 years. However the use of the language as both a first language and as a second language will grow if the immigration trends from Latin America continue.

Well, there are a lot of Spanish speakers in the US now, so perhaps we will be bilingual in the US by 2050. Which personally I think would be great. Culture is always changing, but I doubt that the use of English is going anywhere any time soon.

Well Spanish was the first European language spoken in the new world and life comes full circle, so anything is possible. Spanish is the language of the soul, English is of the world, figure it out.

It doesn't mean that it will become the main language, but who knows, maybe...

It is already a second language but will likely remain in that position. Perhaps when Singapore gives up English as it's main language it might happen. Don't hold your breath.

I sure hope not. This bi-lingual crap should be gotten rid of. I live in America, not Mexico. If they can't understand and speak our language then tough s***. They need to learn it.

It probably will and by that year our gross national product will probably be lower, our birth rate highter, our income lower, and we will be another Mexico. Thank God the world won;t last that long.
