I don't think it has anything to do with looks. I guess they figure that it'll be easier. Those women probably don't expect as much of them (well, they expect lots of money). We expect different things from them (love, fidelity, respect, and their time). If you were to ask those "successful Black men", I'll bet you'll get many different answers.

I do not believe it is really a color thing. I believe it is a personal thing. There are many successful black men dating or married to black women. Look at Will Smith, Jay Z, Russell Simmons, the list goes on. There are also successful white men who date black women. Naomi Campbell and Tyra Banks have probably been asked out by more white men than you can shake a stick at, and successful too. I know many interracial couples who wonder why people are so focused on the color difference. Who cares? You, apparantly. So I guess my final answer is this: No, the white women are not prettier than the black women. The men have simply stopped seeing the color and started seeing the woman, in most cases. Some of the successful black men are just looking for the model type white trophy. You can't blame them. They've been taught it's supposed to go with the package. Those are the ones that haven't yet learned they make the package.

I've spoken to a few black men about this and agree that with many black men it may be an insecurity issue ranging from battles with their complexion and being teased as a kid, bad relationships with their mothers, etc. Also, many like to rebel and finally attain what they couldn't have for so long---the white man's woman, so it could also be psychological. And then again, it can also be just a preference. Their are black women prettier than white women and vice versa, trust me. Don't sweat it, to each their own. But I must admit that every time I see a black man with a woman of another race, I always question the motives of both of them. But then again I'm an attractive black woman, have dated white guys, and they seem to love me. Some people just see color as less nowadays.

I am a white woman who has married and dated famous and successful black men. It has nothing to do with the woman, it is sometimes the insecurities of the man. Then it can just be preference. Black men sometimes think a white woman at their side will bring them to a higher station in life, which is where the insecurities come in. Some men see them as trophy wives.

A lot of the time successful black men are around whites much more often than they are around blacks. Therefore, chances are they are much more likley to meet a white woman than a black woman as opposed to poor blacks who mainly live and interact with people of their own race. Also, some want their kids to be half white and see them as better off than kids that are fully black. Lighter (or mixed) people are much more accepted by many than non mixed people (look at Halle Berry and the hordes of mixed race women in music videos).

You say that your comment wasn't meant to be racist, but you call us trash? I'll leave it at that so that I won't have my account closed by Yahoo...
Anyway, from a black woman's perspective, I think that it is about social status. Not necessarily that white women are prettier or more classy, but simply that she is white. Society in general has placed whites on a pedastal. So for a successful black man to date/marry one is a showcase, IMHO. However, I know MANY successful black men who wouldn't dream of dating anyone other than a black woman. I also know successful white men who date and marry black women. It appears to be a mixture of preference and state of mind.

In our present society, "white women" are often portrayed as the prettiest. Their blonde hair, blue eye image has monopolized the media. They appear in every movie, video, television show and even commercials pushing their supposedly best features on the millions of people who watch television. This image has slowly brainwashed and influenced many people, especially black men to believe that indeed white women are prettier and even more a token of success. This stereotypical image of white women has caused many black men to resent the beauty of their mothers, grandmothers, sisters, etc. White women are indeed pretty, but they are no prettier than any race of women, especially black women who often possess the plump lips, breasts, butts, tan skin, and beautiful skin that science has attempted to put in a bottle and market it as "anti-aging".

I have wondered that also and I asked. I think (because I've been told by some black women) that its because they can't deal with the strength of a black woman. Not that white women aren't strong also, just not in the same way. I never noticed it was just successfull men though.

It's up to the "successful black man" who he wants to choose, to "HIM" she is the most beautiful person in the world. I do not think it's white girls are prettier than black girls, It's personal taste.
