Not so much 'hobbies,' as 'activities.' In post-war London in the late 1940's, all the kids in the neighbourhood used to go to either the youth clubs or, to something which seems to have disappeared these days, 'Youth Movements.' We had a Youth Center very close to where I lived and we all used to go there two or three times a week. It was rather like the Boy Scouts, because we did a lot of hiking and camping (weekend camps and Summer camps) and discussion groups and the Youth Leaders were very Left Wing, so there was an interminable argument about the differences between Socialism, Communism and The Labour Movement. We worked on our scout-craft to get proficiency badges. It was a very big deal to get the movement shirt and an even bigger deal to be presented with the yellow neckerchief and leather toggle. At Summer Camp it was a fine sight to see 80 kids, all lined up in their uniforms as we raised the flag. We didn't own sleeping bags (they were to come later) and took a blanket roll to camp with us and slept in bell or ridge tents, eight kids per tent and that was always mayhem every night..! But those were good time. We were all going to Change The World and make it a better place....though, looking back, that was something we didn't quite succeed in doing....

Well, I'll be burning termites when they hitch a ride on a storm's draft. See, they usually come in the evenings, when it's dark and just when it's about to rain. I'll take a tub, a heck lot of candles, a lighter and get ready to set them up. Arrange the candles whichever way you like and as many as you like, (usually i use 4) then, fill the tub to about 1 cm height with water. Then, you wait.
When they come, make sure your neighbors cooperate by turning off all the lights in their houses, making the entire neighborhood pitch black. Then, light the candles. The candle will attract them if no other light source is present. Just sit back (not to close, otherwise they'll be crawling all over you... not a very good experience, i can tell you) and enjoy the spectacle. Bugs committing suicide! Watch them burn in mid air! Or watch them crash into the 'landing strip' you've prepared for them when they miss the flames! Place your bet, ladies and gentlemen! What will it be next? Incinerated or drowned? Wahahaha! Some call me a very, very sick person and should consult a psychiatrist, but others called me a genius. Try this method and judge for yourself. =)
