At six weeks old, the baby is probably going through a growth spurt. It will take your body a few days to bring your milk supply back in line with the baby's demand. It will seem like she's just starving to death, even after she's fed, but if you just persist in breastfeeding her whenever she wants, your supply will catch up. If you supplement with formula now, you will not be making enough milk for her to drink and you will have to keep on supplementing until you either decide to build up your milk supply or you quit breastfeeding.

If you are worried about whether she's getting enough milk, monitor her "output". If she's wetting several diapers every day, she's getting enough no matter how hungry she seems. You're doing a good job Mom, just keep up the good work and it will be all right!

Do you mean feed the baby cows milk? Don't feed a 6 week old cows milk. Wait until baby is 9 to 12 months to introduce cows milk, their stomach is too immature and it may cause intestinal bleeding. Talk to a pediatrician if you are having difficulty filling up your baby

A baby's digestive system is not ready for regular cow's milk. You didn't mention how much formula your baby is taking in per feeding, it may be time to add an ounce or two.
I also know a few people who have had to add cereal to their baby's diet at this age because of insatiable hunger, but wouldn't recommend it without talking to your baby's doctor first. The doctor will want to monitor your baby's intake to see what he/she needs and what the reaction will be (some babies show allergic reaction to foods this soon). Please, tomorrow morning, when businesses are open as usual, call your baby's doctor and ask for help on this. Good luck!

Do NOT give your baby cow's milk until she is AT LEAST a year old. Cow's milk has too much protein compared to breastmilk or formula and it can mess up her kidneys. You need to let her system get more mature before you give her anything like that. Talk to your pediatrician about what would be an appropriate supplement.

A baby's digestive system, until one year old, can only handle formula or breastmilk. Cow's milk, also, doesn't have the neccessary nutrients, and vitamins that are neccessary for a baby. DO NOT GIVE YOUR BABY MILK.

If your baby is still hungry, after giving a bottle if you are bottle feeding, give them more...it's a sign that your baby is growing.

Listen, I had the same problem, this is what I did, I pumped breast milk and bottle fed the baby 3oz every two hours..if this does not work, feed the baby on demand, but pump pump pump!!! If all else fails, give the baby formula (preferably ENFAMIL...)to top it off, but never ever ever give a baby under age one regular milk..only MILKformula designed for babies.

do not feed the baby whole milk. if the baby isn't getting full then you should ask your pediatrician will it be ok to start the baby on cereal and once you start that the baby will get full and sleep so good. I started my baby on cereal when she was 2weeks old because the pediatrician said she wasn't getting enough milk. and breastmilk wasn't enough either. give the baby about a teaspoon full in the formula and I guarantee the baby would be satisfied. GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!!

No dont' do that. If it isn't filling it up then mix a little cereal in the milk just to thicken it slightly. Big eaters usually start at this time. You might need a fast flow bottle. Use rice cereal nothing else yet do to allergies. contact me for any other help you might need

Six week old babies should be only on breast milk or formula. Not regular milk. Feed the baby on demand.

If you don't have enough milk to feed the baby you should ask your doctor about a formula to fill him after you gave him yours.
