Undergraduates are studying to receive a 4 year degree called a bachelors or baccalaureate.

Graduate students are those pursuing degrees beyond a bachelors or baccalaureate - which are a masters (+ 2 years of study) or phd (masters +3 years of study).

So, basically you graduate high school, go to 4 years of college - get a bachelors/baccalaureate... then you apply to graduate school - for a masters and study 2 more years, write a thesis then graduate. Then you apply to graduate school to get a phd - a doctorate - and study from 3 to 11 years, write a dissertation and graduate then everyone gets to call you Dr. KnowsItAll !!!!

Good Luck !

Undergraduate is when you are in college/university, up until you get a bachelor's degree (BA, BSc, BBA etc). Once you complete your degree and decide to continue school, you are a graduate student and at this point would be working towards some higher level of education (ie Master's degree, PhD etc).
