My daughter is 9 mths old and still breastfeeding every 2 - 4 hours, and occasionally getting baby food. I have not gotten my period as of yet, and am not consistent with my bc pills. They give me bad headaches. I am basically wondering how to tell when or if I am ovulating, and what signs to look for if pregnant. I am always nauseaus (sp), so I cant base any signs on that.

Just some more info...I am taking the mini pill which from all the research I have done, doesnt show any harmful effects to nursing babies, also I realize you can get pregnant at any time, period or no period. Also my daughter prefers to breastfeed rather than eat solids but will if she feels like it. Im not worried about getting pregnant, if it happens we would be happy, I would just like to know how to tell if it happens, since some symptoms are the result of BF.

You can get pregnant while breastfeeding, but the chances are less. Also, I suggest that yous top taking the pill if you are getting headaches. I was taking it and had major headaches that would last for days at a time. They told me I could stroke out if i didnt stop right away, so please consider this as well.

A) Your daughter should not be breastfeeding that much. She is plenty old enough for regular foods. That's why, in general, God starts giving kids teeth at about four months.

B) YES, I nursed my first for a year. Never had a period and still got pregnant.

C) Stop taking those pills if you're nursing. Your daughter is receiving every thing that you do. While some docs may say it's safe, do you want to take any chances?

I'd get to the doctor ASAP. My mother in law was told that she couldn't get pregnant while breastfeeding myfiance when he was a baby. He and his brother are 13 months apart. Get what I'm saying?

I was breastfeeding my daughter (exclusively) and had not had my period and got pregnant again. So it can happen, I am still pregnant right now, and my girls will be 12months apart. You do the math.

You can't take birth control pills and breast feed, it's really bad for the baby. My girlfriend got pregnant with her second child while breast feeding the 1st. She was trying to get pregnant and she used that ovulation kit you can get at drug stores.
