Just ask them out. You don't have to move through life like your sexuality is some affliction that you don't want to pass on to someone else. Do straight people make sure a prospective partner is also straight before moving in? No. You aren't a leper.

I had a long way to do this then read somebody's answer to a question like this one and was like hey, that works. If you go up to a guy and start talking ask him about his girlfriend. He will prob'ly get the reason and say something about his girlfriend or about wanting a girlfriend. Same for a girl, ask about the boyfriend. The trouble I found in this question is that it can backfire or if you find a bisexual then it doesn't really work. Others were to talk about GLBTQ issues, get in their space to check out reactions, or ask point blank (quitely or when you two are alone) not making a big deal out of it.

Find out an interest of his - such as baseball or the theater - then suggest a game or a show or something - you don't relalyhave to make it seem like a date at first - just 2 people going to do something. It will grow if it is going to.....

Ask them to dinner. If they say yes it's a date. During dinner if they do not take their eyes off yours, then they are interested. Also if the stare at your lips while your taking that's a signal. No need to ask you will know.
