What is a "tated" taste? I'm guessing that you need to change the charcoal filter either way though.

I am not sure what tated tast means. If you mean that the ice cubes taste funny....as in a strange taste. Maybe the ice cubes absorbed odors from your freezer. Or the water used to make the ice could be the problem.

The pipes might be rusted coming from your water supply. Try to flush them out by running water. I always like the plastic supply line to the refrigerator as it doesn't break and is always cleaner. The metal used to always break and tainted the water a bit. Check your filter as it might be time to replace it. You can get another at your local hardware store or Home Depot.

Can you taste it in anything else? Found out the hard way but have your free-on checked. It could have a small leak.

Do you have hard or soft water? It could be that mineral deposits have built up which can leave a strange taste.
