Grover Cleveland held office during 2 nonconsecutive terms. He was our 22nd and 24th president. Incidentally, his full name is Stephen Grover Cleveland.

Franklin Roosevelt served 3 terms and actually started a 4th term

The Twenty-second Amendment (which took effect in 1951) provides that no one may be elected to the office more than twice, and that no one may be elected President more than once who has held the office of (or acted as) President for more than two years of another's term. Prior to the ratification of this amendment, and following the precedent set by George Washington, an unofficial limit of two terms was generally observed, with the only exception being Franklin D. Roosevelt, who served three full terms and died in his fourth after just over 12 years in office. Since the amendment went into effect, three Presidents have served two full terms: Dwight Eisenhower, Ronald Reagan, and Bill Clinton. Richard Nixon was elected to a second term but resigned before completing it.

Grover Cleveland served 2 non consecutive terms
he was our 22nd president from March 4, 1885 to March 3, 1889
also
he was our 24th president from March 4, 1893 to March 3, 1897

Spiro Agnew was president for a VERY brief time when Nixon left office in 1974.

FDR held office for 3 terms from March 4, 1933 to April 12, 1945.

I think that pretty much covers all of the reasons.

President Grover Cleveland served as the 22nd president from 1885-1889 and then again as the 24th president from 1893-1897.

Thus the answer to your riddle....

On a technicality, David Rice Atcheson of Missouri was president for one day. The president, whose name escapes me at the moment, was to be sworn in on a Sunday. He would not do that as Sunday is a day of rest. As Speaker of the House, he was next in line for presidential succession. They say he spent most of his time in office sleeping. Not unlike W, his father, and the Great God Reagan.
