you are more and more scared of the kids entering society out of school now? I am only 34, so when I was coming out of college in 94, were you older ladies and gentlemen as scared for the world as you are today? Weird question, I know, but curious.

From the answers, it looks like my feelings are normal and I should try to think younger than I am! And, yes, I thought 34 was the beginning of the "middle age"... I could be wrong though..HAHA! I don't care about labels though.

I think people always are a little apprehensive of how the "younger generation" will run the world. There is record that some of the Greats of history felt the same way.
But, yes, it does seem that the people coming out of school now are less educated and less concerned with rightness than ever before.
They have a sense of entitlement that just blows me away! I keep wondering when they all have to live with each other and don't have parents and others to give them everything to which they believe they are entitled, what on earth will happen? Also, they are so RUDE. I wonder how any marriage--or union of any kind--will survive. A lot of people don't think marriage is necessary in a society, but a solid family unit is necessary. Society will fall without it.
It's scarey and it's sad, because the young people now have so many more advantages than any generation ever did before.
Don't get me wrong. I still think there are a LOT of really great young people. Most of the ones I know are pretty great, but I do see the trend, overall, mentioned above.

First of all, I'm a bit stunned that you consider 34 to be "Middle Aged"!
I personally do not find the young people of today any more frightening than they were 10, 20, 30 years ago. I think in your case it's merely a matter of perception. You're getting older and can no longer relate to them, and you naturally fear what you can't relate to.
I would urge you to try to think young. It's the first step toward remaining young. I can tell you from firsthand experience: Everybody is shocked to learn how old I really am. I have two younger siblings and people generally think I'm the youngest of the bunch! It's from keeping my mind springtime fresh! (Plus good health habits.) The avatar does not resemble me at all!

Not a weird question at all. The kids entering society today have gang like tendencies. They show no respect for themselves or anybody else. They are too lazy to get jobs. They are after guns and drugs. They shoot each other over nothing and any innocent bystanders that are in the way. They are going to ruin the world that the previous generations sacrificed to build.

OK, maybe not scared, but concerned.
When I graduated college the first time, I felt indestructible, and that I would never age.
When I went back to college, I had a more mature grip on my transition as an adult.
At 50, I wondered, "How can our society continue its downward spiral?"
Now, at 56, I realize that our society cannot continue this way, my acceptance of that is comforting, but only because of my faith.

,Yours is a great question. I keep wondering if I feel so scared about the world because I'm getting older(48). I can't believe that my parents were so fearful when we were listening to heavy metal music and smoking pot. It seems to me that we weren't that scary and no, keeping, I was not anywhere near as afraid as I am now in '94. We need to reach out to our younger brothers and sisters and help them see that they can change things, and know that we will be there for them...

With time comes change. In '94 certain drugs were not as prevalent; and jobs were available. So, the concern wasn't as urgent. Also, the style of clothing was not so intemidating. If we (I'm 50so if we keep up ) with the changing trends of today-we are less likely to be suspecious of people that look "strange" to us.
