I have used a computer for a long time, and recently upgraded to a newer one. The CD-ROM drive was working perfectly when i stopped using it, but now, when i tried to set it up again, it doesnt work. I tried finding the driver, but no luck. I found cdrom.inf, but when i try to use it it doesn't work. Nothing seems to help. I am using Windows XP Home, and I have a Creative 52x CD-ROM drive. Please Help!

Have you searched for the driver on driverguide.com? Does it show up in my computer, if not than does it show up in device manager, if not than does it show up in bios? If not to all, than your computer is not recognizing it at all, disconnect it boot up, shut down, reconnect and boot back up. Make sure jumpers are right, check bios setting to be on auto or CD-ROM, check dma and pio modes. If shows up in device manager, but has yellow ! or red X than drive searching windows update for driver update, or go to driverguide.com. If it shows up in my computer but won't do anything, than computer sees it, windows sees it, and the motor that opens the tray, or the band/gears it runs on are worn out, replace (52X CD-ROM drives are inexpensive)

Hi. Double check your cables and make sure they are tight. If the new PC already has a CD then you may have to change the jumpers on the back. One should be "MA" and one "SL". Go to the Creative site and download the latest drivers. Hope this helps!

Right click "My Computer', "Properties", "Hardware", "Device Manager", Then go to "DVD-CD drives" IF it shows there then just click the Driver tab and update driver. XP will have it. If it don't show there then remove and reset the jumper to "Cable Select".
