America used to be a fearful country, but we had brave leaders and people who were willing to do what it took to uphold right above wrong.

The problem now is that everyone expects the government to do everything for them.

As history has repeatedly shown, When a government gains to much power it falls to corruption.

Absolute power corrupts absolutely.

We don't need privacy, we don't need freedom of speech, we don't even need the right to bear arms. These were not things put in the constitution on moral principles. These were put in to prevent the very thing that's happening right now.

To keep the government from getting enough power to begin the cycle of corruption.

The government gets more power, it uses this power to get more, and it repeats itself until the country inevitably falls.

It would do you well to think really hard about why some laws are laws.

The drug laws, The seat belt laws, the countless laws that just make no sense.

Are you in America, are you an American?

No, I am not too fearful and I can only speak for myself!

I am confident in my Country!

The big issue seems to be listening in on conversations between Americans. I do not care if the Country hears about my laundry or sexual liaisons. If they intercept a terrorist conversation, it is worth it. I will keep talking anyway I want!

No, I don't think we are fearful.

We just don't care enough to know what's going on. We listen to the 10 second sound bites from the people we think care about us, and draw quick rationalizations from them.

I think the government and media do "soften" the news and facts to fit their agendas. But I believe those agendas are opposite, and the media cannot be trusted with the truth. They bury the truth and focus on their spin.

I agree. Many people seem to be basing their choices on fear, rather than on a realistic perception of risk. I think both sensationalist media and political fear-mongering have combined to influence many of us to worry on a daily basis about things that are highly unlikely to ever happen.

A good example is school children being abducted by strangers. Statistically, this is less likely to happen to your child than being struck by lightening. Yet panicked parents seem to live their whole lives around driving their children to and from school because they are convinced that walking to school is very dangerous.

I don't think Americans are anywhere near as fearful as the media and our government makes us out to be.

You know what I think,I think Americans are finally waking up to the fact that the people they vote for are not ones who run the country.I think that we are all questioning 911,the coverup and the lies as well as the complicity and we are all nervous about what George W. is up to next. Marshall Law is just around the corner and then what?

I think the media reports on too much sad stuff. I want to be a journalist, but I don't wanna end up reporting about people always dying. However, I suppose they are reporting the reality of our society, or what we perceive as the reality.

I think we Americans have become fearful out of convenience now. It is a result of our self-serving arrogance. We continue to take pride in being the "best" at everything but in reality we are drifting away from this further and further each day. So much so that we are willing to ignore the reality facing us.

Our jobs are being taken over by foreigners. Our thought process has become polluted by the hidden agenda of our leaders. We are fed rubbish about what the rest of the world is doing against us. We are very quick to believe these mis-informed idiots because it is easier than to search the truth in the realm of the unknown.

Our lifestyles are taking a turn for the worse and we still dont want to accept reality and wake up.

We have become lazy and wasteful in our ways. We are living in an era of boredom, obesity, and loneliness.

We spend our days in desperate search for the "ultimate release," which does not even exist. We have forgotten what it was like to be children once. Instead we have given into the fear of living out our death. We resist this fear by putting on an act of defiance. An act of invincibility, as it were, by the words we use these days to describe our lives, our liberties and our persuit of happniess.

We have become insecure in this manner simply because we no longer have a foundation of a decent family life, a sense of belonging to a community, and above everything else, we have lost that sincere sense of self-esteem. We are fearful of our shame more than anything else.

SO we lash out at the others. We blame the south Americans for taking over our country with their language. We blame the Chinese for exporting too many things at very cheap prices. We blame the Arabs for the $3.25 a gallon of gasoline. We blame the Iranians for funding all the terrorist activites around the world. We blame the Indians for taking away our jobs. And so on. B ut in reality we just need to stop and meditate. We need to examine ourselves as a great nation and a great people who have a major responsibility as a world leader, not to be afraid, but to lead. Not to hate, but to show the way of tolerance. Not to fight in the name of freedom, but to create this freedom with love and understanding.

These are the qualities which will bring back a sense of security in our lives. We all deserve this as Americans....

In the immortal words of FDR, "We have nothing to fear but fear itself!"
