i think she can, but because her mother still has legal responsibility and guardianship of her, her mother can force her to stay at home. once she turns 18 though, she can do anything she wants.

In Australia, I'm pretty sure that it is legal for 15 year olds to live alone; however, you must be at least 18 to sign a lease. This makes it practical for an adolescent to leave home with their parents' consent.

Check the laws in your state. Also check with child welfare to see if YOU can have custody. In some states a child over a certain age can decide which parent they want to live with, see if your state has Grandparents' Rights Laws. Or you could suggest that they try some family counseling before this turns them against each other for life.

It in all threat could rely on what state she's in. My wager is that for many states a sixteen-year-previous won't be able to legally circulate out of her mum and dad homestead in the event that they are asserting no. some mum and dad would not combat it, they could be happy to be certain her circulate. i'm sorry that your sister and her buddy are in this project and which you're being laid low with it. i think the could desire to show out that we are listening to in basic terms one edge of the story (and there's a minimum of two). i've got faith that each and all of the mummy and dad in contact have a different handle issues. (which does no longer immediately mean that they are good). Is there yet another grownup which you will seek for suggestion from? Like a school counselor or an grownup relative or once you're participants of a church? My concerns for this sixteen-year-previous lady contain her polishing off severe college. You did no longer say no rely if absolutely everyone has a substance-abuse project and no rely if she must be "sucked in." the terrific of luck to you all. --sign me "a in contact dad in Houston, Texas"

She is able to do that. No one is going to waste legal time or dollars as long as she has somewhere to go. Don't worry about that, worry about her. you might have to get strong with mom and tell her if she wants to keep the boyfriend, the price is that kiddo will not be living there.

Yes, depending on the laws of the state you live in. There is something called an emancipation. It allows the child to live on their own, but you must convince a court that it is for the best.
