Typing was mandatory in school, and I had to take it in the 6th, 8th and 9th grades.

Despite this, I am a terrible typist, and type about 30 words a minute. If I'm using a program with spell chewk, I acn go a lot faster!

~45 wpm. Just from experience, I've been using a computer since 7, but never actually took any class or lessons. Just before answering your post though, by some weird coincidence I downloaded this program from download.com called TypingMaster to try what my speed is currently. I hope it's a good one :P

63 wpm w/100% accuracy on the test. I had a one semester course in highschool, but mostly it's just experience. I was a clerk typist for 7 years.

I am a hunt and peck typist. About 10 words per minute. I started typing as soon as I saw your question and am just posting it. :)

depends what I am typing.
If I am reading and re-typing, around 50wpm
if I am just typing what I am thinking (and have my thoughts linedup) I have done up to 110wpm (with about 90% accuracy)

only 45 if I'm intentionally trying to be fast. I've never tried to see what my normal speed is.

I had computer class at a Catholic elementary school, then in a public middle school. My mom's a teacher so we were always exposed to computers she brought home each summer from her classroom.

Approximately 70WPM. I'm completely self-taught.

I took a typing course in high school and it actually did more harm than good. Took me twice as long to undo the damage as it took to cause it. =)
