I never really thought about it. When I'm with my family, I always try to smile and maybe joke a little. It's not for the benefit of others though. I'm genuinely trying to enjoy the time I have with them. It certainly doesn't mean that I don't have problems and my life is all rosy. I hope there isn't someone like you being judgmental of me if you see me laughing with my family.

No way - you are describing my family. Not one day goes past that we don't share a laugh or a joke. Seriously, not one day. We are very fortunate.
I'm sorry your family life isn't like that and you consider happy families to be faking it.

If they do it most of the time, its probably real. I grew up in a family kind of like that. If they do it ALL the time, its probably at least partly fake.
