I'm a PDA freak and right now I have the HP's new Windows Mobile 5 model, the hw6915. It has a strong quad band GSM mobile phone, full PDA, WiFi, Bluetooth and a good GPS inside. No external antennas, despite the 4 wireless radios inside. It runs on a 416MHz XScale processor, has 128 megs of flash ROM and a very good QWERTY thumb keyboard.

Although this is a pretty new model, I'm already over it and I'm desperately waiting for the new Fujitsu-Siemens LOOX T-830 with absolutely EVERYTHING integrated (Wifi, bluetooth, GPS, camera, quad band - international, and all the applications in the windows mobile 5). Check the website with more info about it. It should be out in a month... starting in Europe... but you can buy it from here once it's out.
Good luck!

With that kind of money ($400), you can get a Palm LifeDrive. It has Palm OS, a TON of space, Wifi, Bluetooth, even a media player for MP3s, pictures, and video. The lifedrive has a voice recorder, too!

If you don't want the massive 4GB memory or voice recorder, get a TX for $300.

Sans the WiFi and big screen, you can get a Tungsten E2 for $200. You can also get the Treo 700p to add smartphone capabilities, but that costs a bundle!

Take away the media player, replace the good screen with a pixelated one (If you're going to use it as a planner, don't worry about the screen), and remve the expansion slot, and you can get the Z22 for $100.

For Pocket PCs, it depends how processor-intenseive it's going to work. For one comparable to the TX in power, try the HP iPAQ rx1955. It should tie you over in power. For heavy tasks, the HP iPAQ hx2495 should work. If you're going to push your Pocket PC to the limits, try the powerful HP iPAQ hx2795. If you want the rx1955 in a smartphone, get the HP iPAQ hw6515a. If you like the Treo 700p and wish the hw6515a was more like it, try the Treo 700w.

I am looking for one too. You need to first figure out why you need it. Also, do you want a windows operating system or palm operating system. Next, do you want it to be ready for blue-tooth for Internet connection? try not to buy one on eBay if you can, only because most of them are used or are refurbished. A lot of times if the are refurbished, there was something wrong with them in the past and they do not have a warranty. Good luck. Also, try and read a lot of comments many PDA users have posted, on various bulletin boards, one to try, amazon.com, it will really help.

Well what do you want to do. You can get the Palm TX on the web these days for about 250.

It has wi-fi, bluetooth and infrared. It is pretty fast, has a good amount of storage and has an expansion slot.

I always try to get the best bang for my buck, I am a rather serious palm user....several hours a day. This is my recommendation.

This page can give you more info on palm products:

I have played with others like the SONY, did not like it, and have heard bad things about their support.
