because if they would use aluminum bats, people would get killed. not only players, but fans. the ball would be hit so much harder, and longer, and the game would beome even more f a hitters game. it would be like a home run derby.
i think the home run races are ruining the sport of baseball.
and i think they should make other bats that make home runs rare. the way they used to be, now ets talk about tradition...

the reason is because way back in early years of the sport there was no such thing as an aluminum bat. there was only wood. so that is what it is and will ever be. also an aluminum bat in the hands of someone like pujols, the exit speed of the ball off the bat would be so high it would kill who ever was in its path. look into BESR certification.

tradition, and because if professionals used aluminum, the balls would travel about 500-600 feet because aluminum is harder and lighter, which means that if the bat goes through the zone faster, contact off the bat is faster. parks would have to be made bigger so that every game doesnt turn into a homerun derby

I have played baseball in the collegiate and pro level and the strength of some of the guys in the pro level.. they could kill someone in the stands if they took a direct shot... aluminum just has too big of a sweet spot... much easier to hit a really good pitch with it...

First of all it is a MLB tradition. second, it is because the ball doesnt travel as far and fast so it is safer for the players. Third, there would be way to many homeruns. Pretend everyone had 2 times the amount of homeruns they had before, now is the homerun still such an incredible thing?

All of you are about right...it's also to ensure the health of the players that are developing in Little League to College, you wouldn't want a star prospect burned out before you could draft him would you? It also goes with why most pitchers take time to develop pitches over their career...high schoolers usually have2-3 pitches same with college (but they may had another) and once you get to the majors you improve your secondary pitches as well as maybe add another pitch

Because it is Major League Baseball....not some high school stuff.

Besides those fake bats would destroy pitchers who got hit.

It is harder to hit it far with a wood bat. Aluminum would make them good really far, and make the sport boring.
