i love guinea pigs! in fact, i have three guinea pigs (2 are abyssinians). i like them because they don't bite (i used to have hamsters and they did bite like crazy), it's easier to hold them than hamsters too.

the oldest one is almost 3 years old and he's my favorite. i love taking him out of his cage and spending time with him. sometimes, when i watch my favorite movies, i would put him on my tummy and he just falls asleep just like that. he's so cute.

the only thing i don't like to do is clean their cages. especially the younger ones'. but nonetheless, it's good to have them around. :)

ooo i just love the little noises they make!
almost like a whistle, they are very smart and can be trained, some even like to swim in shallow water

they have very good brain activity which is why they can remember things

animals do bite, but only if not treated properly and they can be shy

if you get them at a young age it is easier for them to get to know you, treat them like a cat.... give them love and attention but also give them space

let them have a large area to run around in with toys... hard plastic kid size pools work great

FYI "talisy77" has it close but wrong

all rodents can be prone to illness and problems...

rabbits can't burp and can literally die of gas (as well as some types of bunny pneumonia which can be brought on by stress), chinchillas have to have dust for a bath due to the number of hairs per follicle (water is only for drinking), hamsters are very much prone to respiratory illness and can run up a huge vet bill

Guinea pigs are messy, and poop everywhere. Not that i dislike them for that but most other rodents at least pick a corner. They are prone to respitory problems, and skin problems, and are a pet i consider more high maintanence than compared to a hamster/chincila/rabbits/rats/mice/gerbils ect.

Not anymore! When I was younger, we had 3 of them (one for me & one for each of my 2 sisters). Well, one day, my oldest sister picked up her guinea pig & it bit her! She had to get stitches on the entire side of her hand (from tip of thumb to rist). We had all 3 put down. That was the ost blood I've ever seen!

i used to have one. they're good pets, but they and their cages get dirty quite easily. i've found that hamsters are better pets- although they are hard to find if you lose them!
