J.J Redick will really benefit playing in orlando's system because Dwight howard will command double teams so JJ will be open to knock down shots, also Nelson is the type of PG who drives and kicks and JJ's sharp shooting will stretch the defense and give nelson the ability to penetrate and if he doesnt have a clear lane he can kick it out to redick. The problem with JJ is that he is too one dimensional... he is a spot up shooter. period. he cant create for himslef,he is considerably slow, he wont be able to slash or penetrate well at the next level, He is too short at 6-4, plays no defense and has back issues and also not mention about the DWI. But unlike in college, teams probably wont focus their entire defensive strategy on him so he should benefit a lot from open looks. I think that Rodney Carney would have been a better pick long term But I think the Magic got the guy they needed for their offense but his lack of defensive ability might force the Magic to bench him and start Deshawn Stevenson for defense. I expect JJ to be solid in his rookie year and improve as his career goes along but dont expect anything like he did in college. Predicted Notable Stats: 12 PPG, 1.5 3PG on 38%, 2.0 AST.

There is no doubt J.J. Redick is a great shooter, and that by itself is a contribution to the Magic lineup. The shooting guard position is a weakness for Orlando because Hedo Turkoglu isn't a true shooting guard and DeShawn Stevenson isn't very point productive (11 points per game last season). I see J.J. fitting in well with the Magic as a perimeter shooting option along with Dwight Howard's inside presence. Though he does have his weaknesses, once he improves his defense and ability to create shots, he may become on of the best shooting guards in the Eastern Conference. J.J.'s current skills and his potential can get Orlando to the playoffs.

There are so many haters that answered this question. OK first the magic got a great draft pic in J.J.. J.J. will do great in Orlando. LoOK at the whole picture.
1st: his first year will be ok he has to get use to the NBA
2nd: hes got Dwight Howard who either this year or the next will be gettin double teamed that make J.J. a deadly target
3rd: he has a great up in comin point guard who can dish the ball well on a half-court game or on the fast break
Overall: He will average I say 9 or10 as a rookie, and 15 to 20 later on in his career.

The guy is the best pure shooter EVER. As a result, it doesn't matter who is guarding him. J.J. Redick is a flat out scorer, and those types score whether they are in a system or not in a system. You are born with it. People who score like he does learn to adjust to whomever is guarding them--those types are experts at finding separation from their defenders. If they can't do it by speed, they do it through deception. I've seen J.J. Redick make some of the fastest players on the court look absolutely Redickulous (pun intended) with his head fakes. When you are that good of a shooter, defenders must play you really tight and, therefore, they are susceptible to biting on head fakes and losing him.

The magic don't really have someone like JJ on the team. He will definitely see alot of playing time and probably score 15-16 points every night with skills top score 30 every night. The problem is when they go up against Lakers, Sonics, Houston and the likes where they have an all-star SG. I played basketball in highschool myself and I play the 2 guard as well. It took alot out of my shot when I had to go guard someone who shoots alot.
Then again he is with the magic so they don't really play defense. So if he will fit in with the system then I guess he will do just fine.

Not good at all cause he'll be plagued by the Duke curse. Bobby Hurley, hurt in auto accident, career ended. Christian Laitner, great college player, never lived up to his hype in the NBA. Jay Williams, hurt in motorcycle accident, "attempting" a comeback with Toronto. Grant Hill, started with a bang out shining former teammate Christain Laitner but will now be remembered more for being hurt for most of his time in Orlando and costing them dearly than for his overall NBA career performance. Carlos Boozer, he's only played 1 full 80+ season his rookie year and has played fewer games each passing season including last season when he only played in 33 games due to injuries. The only exceptions to the Duke curse "so far" is Elton Brand & Luol Deng and hopefully the curse will avoid both of them completely!

What up Matt H, For in spite of reason the Magic have been fairly insistent on protecting JJ. The final 2 years JJ has been soliciting for a commerce because of the fact he became dropping way on the Magic bench- however the Magic have refused to commerce him for some reason. component of the reason it became suggested that he wasn't getting enjoying time became that Stan Van Gundy became not happy with Reddick's protection. because of the shortcoming of exposure i don't understand which you have the skill to get a accepted around %. for Reddick, even nonetheless it may be well worth procuring around in case you will be able to desire to get what you go with. i think of Orlando easily properly shop Reddick and he can also have a shot to compete for the commencing activity on the three. With Hedo Turkgolu asserting that he will choose out for unfastened agency this is plausible that Reddick takes the three, Rashard is going to the 4, and the Magic attempt to get carry of a real 4 and that would desire to then make Reddick like a 6th guy for the Magic (type of like a Jason Kapono kind participant) who can fill interior the gaps at the two and 3 positions. Damion James is going back to college yet i think of Taj Gibson may be an excellent %.-up... i'm easily hoping the Lakers might desire to %. him up. Nickster

He will produce similar results to the play of salim stoudemire. He will put points on the board and his bad defense will go unnoticed mostly because Darko and Dwight will be behind him blocking shots. 9-10 points a game in a little over 20 minutes a contest.

He'll probably be average like Mike Dunleavy and all the other players from Duke. And he can't make a clutch shot, either.
