My son also went through that stage, and it lasted for months. He is now 3 and still does it occasionally. I had to be gentle but firm with him that it wasnt appropriate and he caught on after awhile. Good luck cuz there will be many more disgusting hurdles to overcome. My sons newest is wiping his boogies on me. YaY

I would definatly take him to see a doctor, they might tell you that he is just curious. Most kids will stick there fingers in body parts when they discover them. Mostly they find there ears and nose but in this case I would definatly try to find out by a doctor because something may be bothering him that you don't know about.

It's normal for a baby to explore their bodies. Keeping him busy with toys during diaper changes might help.

I have three children and none of them did that. That doesn't mean it's not normal. Is he around others without you? I don't want to alarm you if I'm not correct but, it could be a sign of molestation. I don't have any proof to back that up it's just the first thought that came to mind. Good luck.

Children are interested in everything. I wouldn't say that your child is abnormal because of that, but it is a habit you need to break. You just need to be stern about it and let him know it is not okay to do it. After a while of you telling him he is not supposed to do it, he will get the point and stop.

I think you should take him to the doctor as the itching may be because of worms which is common in toddlers as they may handle different things that may have been contaminated by incests or flies. It may sound wired but it happens. Take him to the doctor.

It's normal. He's just exploring his body. Just tell him that it's not nice for him to do that. That he may hurt himself. Distract him with a toy so he will find something else to do with his hands.

It is pretty normal. My two year old has just started this. It is annoying as heck - I just try to get his hands washed before they make it to his mouth. YUCK!
I am trying to teach him not to do it, because it is so unsanitary.

Tell him only that it is something that is not done in front of other people. Do not make him feel ashamed of his body.
