when my 4 year old was born we dicided that when the kids were old enough to make up their own minds about church they didnt have to go if they didnt want to. well my 4 year old wants to be home with his dad on sun. and i beleive that he should go. on sat we were sitting in the back yard and my hubby was drunk and my son said that he wanted to stay home from church, my hubby turned to me and said he no longer has to go and went on to bash god. it really made me mad, my life in the last year has changed so much because i became a beleiver, i guess im finding it really hard not being able to share that with my hubby. and i beleive that people have the right to make up their own minds about things, and when the kids are old enough to i will let them but i dont think a 4 year old knows what he wants other that being with dad could be fun. any ideas would really help, i have been stewing about this for 4 days.

HE IS NOT OLD ENOUGH TO MAKE HIS OWN DECISIONS YET.ASK YOU HUSBAND NEXT TIME IF YOU SON MAKES THE DECISION TO NOT GO TO SCHOOL IS HE GOING TO LET HIM STAY HOME.
BETTER YET MAKE A DEAL WITH YOUR HUSBAND ASK HIM TO LET YOU MAKE THAT DECISION UNTIL YOUR SON IS 13 OR 14 THEN HE CAN.BUT WHILE YOU ARE MAKING HIS BREAKFAST AND PUTTING HIS SHOES ON THE RIGHT FOOT AND MAKING HIS PLATES,PICKING OUT HIS CLOTHING YOU NEED TO TAKE HIM TO CHURCH WITH YOU BY THEN YOU WILL HAVE PLANTED THE SEED OF OUR LIVING CHRIST IN HIM.YOU NEED AT LEAST THAT FROM HIM.YOU NEED TO HAVE YOUR HUBBY THINK WHAT IF HE IS WRONG ITS OK THAT HE CHOOSES TO BURN IN HELL BUT COULD HE REALLY LIVE WITH OR DIE WITH HIS SON RIGHT BESIDE HIM BURNING FOR ETERNITY HE WILL HAVE TO WATCH.
I FEEL FOR YOU.YOU ARE TORN NOW.GOD WANTS YOUR SON TO KNOW HIM.HE IS THE NEXT GENERATION WITH HIM BEING A BELIEVER HE MIGHT BE CHOSEN TO SAVE SOULS IN THE FUTURE HE IS SPECIAL ENOUGH TO BE SAVED FOR SURE.BE A GOOD MOM NO MATTER WHAT YOU KEEP TEACHING HIM THE TRUTH.

That's a tough one. As far as your husband, maybe you should sit down and have a talk with him when he's sober. It's reasonable to request that your child be able to be exposed to church until he's older (12 sounds reasonable to me). If he was drunk while he was looking after a small child, then he may have a problem with alcohol.

As far as the child is concerned, you are the parent and you have every right to take your child to church every week. Maybe you could sit down and talk with your child and explain that he has the rest of the day (and the rest of the week) to spend with his father. All you ask of him is one hour a week.

Not sure if I helped, but I sympathize with the problem.

I'd be furious! I would take me sober husband aside and tell him how upset you are and lay down some rules,he had no right to say and act the way he did and I'd leave it up to him to explain to my 4 year old why he said and acted the way he did. If my husband was not receptive to this I would seriously start to question the relationship.

Talk to him about it. Tell him he was way out of line. And that your child needs to learn about god his own way.
