Probably Madelyn O'Hare. Or Bertrand Russell.
Or Sigmund Freud, Friedrich Nietzsche, Thomas Paine, Ayn Rand, Carl Sagan, Jean-Paul Sartre...

World's Most Famous Atheist: Adolph Hitler, without a doubt, although he professed himself to be a Christian (apparently the Commandment "Thou Shalt Not Kill" didn't connect with his brain); United States Most Famous: Madelyn Murray O'Hare, who successfully got prayer banned from schools; thus, the downfall of our great Nation. (In my opinion, How else can you explain society since this happened, i.e., unruly children, disregard for life and property, etc.)

atheist doesnt necessarily mean bad, murderer, Hitler, ect., I would say Richard Dawkins is the proudest one I've came across. I respect his thoughts tremendously, however. I do not necessarily agree with all his views, though, but he's a smart man.
