The best routes to take are to research the process of starting a business as well as the industry you're interested in.

I posted links for you in the source box pertaining to starting a business in your state.

Research, research, research – this cannot be stressed enough. Read as much as you can. Here are some book titles that are relevant:

* How to Start a Business in Ohio by Entrepreneur Press
* Smartstart Your Ohio Business by Oasis Press Editors, PSI Research

Hope that helps! I wish you much success & happiness in all your ventures!

Best thing I did was put a competent CPA on retainer. He will know all the details where money is involved in the process. MAny service businesses that dispense chemicals, paint , oil, etc. will also need some certification and permits from local and federal EPA. An auto body shop I know of had to get over 90 permits to install a downdraft paint booth and operate it. Manufacturer of the booth was able to recommend a consultant to guide that process. Small business programs at your bank may be able to help also.
