They are similar. Why do you want to take it? To grow fingernails or hair, calcium and protein work best. If you have bone problems and think that taking this will increase cartelege in your joints, forget it. Studies recently released said that there was no effect whatsoever from eating any form of Glucosamine or anything like it. Take care of yourself, take weight off if you are more than 25 pounds over your "best" weight, and reduce the amount of meat you consume; avoid citrus, anything wth tomato in it and increase fiber and live foods like greens and raw veggies... Whole grains and reducing sugars will help reduce the acid in your blood that fats and meat produces...

The more neutral your blood is the better it can repair your joints, if I am off base and you just want to have stronger fingernails and thicker hair, then just add a small amount of calcium and sunlight to process the calcium... I wish you had said why you want to use these things in the first place- then I might have been better able to answer you.
