July 4th and still in first place! Even though we have lost 3 of our last 4. Can they keep up this pace and win the Central---or they very least be the wild card?

Yes, they can...
I think they'll win the Central, and am very confident that at least they should win the wild card. Really, if they only go .500 in their remaining games, they'll most likely win the wild card. This is awesome.
Tigers in a pennant race!!!

I really don't think you have much to worry about, if the Tigers don't win the division, the Wild Card will be theirs. Minnesota is hot right now, but they have too much ground to make up between your Tigers and White Sox.

I really like what Detroit has done this year. Getting Jim Leyland was the smartest move they ever made. The pitching is the best in baseball right now. I really like Verlander (the kid is gonna be great). Minor has been a nice surprise too....Robertson is having a career year, Kenny "The Gambler" Rogers just keep rolling along, and Jeremy Bonderman is pitching like a #1 pitcher should pitch. Their hitting has been great too...they have the total package right now.

Looks like the AL East will only have one representative in the playoffs.....and it better be the Red Sox!!!

Their upcoming series with the Mariners may be important. Seattle has been playing much better of late, and if their pitching holds up the Tigers are in for three very tight games. I don't think the Mariners will blow them out unless Detroit pitching collapses. But the Tigers could very easily blow the Mariners out if Seattle's pitching folds, and the M's starters have been rather inconsistent.

If the three games are close, then even if the Tigers lose all three of them (Sorry, Georgie, but I fervently hope so! I want my mighty Mariners to overtake Oakland!) they still have the best shot to win the AL Central.

They are showing signs of fatigue. and it won't be so easy for them in the second half when they have to face a bunch of AL teams instead of all those sissy daisy-a**ed teams they've been playing over in the NL.

So I don't think they will keep up the current pace. by losing 3 of 4 they're already showing signs of slowing.

The real question is whether they can stay ahead of the white sox with going a slightly slower pace than before. I don't think they can do it if the slow just an inch though becuz all through their success the white sox have been right behind them waiting for them to slip.

It'll be interesting to watch to say the least.

Man, they're gonna have to prove it. Ya got a lot of doubters out there because the Tigers have been so low for so long. Personally, I'd like to see it cuz I am on the underdog bandwagon and love it when Sampson knocks off Goliath. I'll add here that the Twins will be your concern, not the White Sox. Good Luck! ☺

I think the tigers will definetely make the playoffs. Mike Maroth will come off the DL and they have just been on a tear. If it lasted this long, it will last till the playoffs. As much as it pains me, I don't think we will have two teams from the AL East, most likely, my Yanks won't make the playoffs, but definetely do think Tigers and Chi Sox will make the playoffs. They have one of the best pitching staffs, amazing defense (Brandon Inge is a true playmaker), hitting is very complete, and their bullpen has been solid. I think they gonna keep up the pac and make the playoffs. Nice turnaround.

They are doing what most teams can't. Win on the road. Look at there record for road games and compare that with the Sox or the Twins. They are beating other teams on the road as well as at home so if they can stay healthy they can definetly win the division. They are definetly more well rounded than the Red Sox, and the Yanks are injured so if the White Sox can be held at bay, they can do it. Good luck to your team!
