True, they won't need any new infrastructure except between ANWR and Prudhoe Bay. That would likely be in the form of a pipeline, that might possibly follow the route of an existing road or might require that one be built.

One of the big reasons for support behind ANWR is that the Alaska Pipeline from Prudhoe Bay to Valdez is underutilized and has spare capacity. ANWR oil production will simply be sent by pipeline to the Trans-Alaska Pipeline, pumped to Valdez and loaded into double-hull tankers which will deliver it to West Coast US ports like San Francisco and Los Angeles, just like Prudhoe Bay oil is now.

Gas production is another matter. Right now all natural gas produced on the North Slope is reinjected into the reservoirs or used to power equipment and local communities. In order to use the natural gas from the North Slope, there will have to be another pipeline built and there is much debate over that. It could be routed across Canada to the Midwest US, or it could go down the same route as the Trans-Alaska Pipeline and would either require a Liquified Natural Gas plant be built or a pipeline down the west coast of Alaska and Canada to the US. That route is somewhat perilous and bound to be both expensive and environmentally problematic. Here is a State of Alaska discussion of the gas pipeline:

I just read an article the other day about a Canadian Indian tribe that is opposing a natural gas pipeline across their tribal land, so the cross-Canada route may be unlikely as well.

Good question, part of the reason proponents are eager to develop ANWR is its proximity to the already existing Alaska Pipeline from Prudoe Bay to Valdez. If we wait too long to develop ANWR reserves, the pipeline will be past its useful life, and another would have to be built.

if a super variety of our oil is coming from Iraq then why are gas expenditures so intense? And if we are turning out to be as plenty oil from Iraq because of the fact the item alleges, then that boosts the concept that we did invade Iraq for oil. I additionally observed that the item did no longer provide a catalogue of components, i think that this grow to be written by way of a lobbyist for the oil industry. If foreign places oil is so undesirable for the monetary gadget, then shouldn't that inspire us to come across determination fuels components, now extremely than wait till it fairly is too late. And whilst there is an environmental difficulty whose going to pay for the wear to the ambience. Exxon nonetheless hasn't totally paid it fairly is fines it agreed to from destroying the Prince William Sound. besides, in a modern information tale BP had to close down a number of its operations in AK at present by way of destructive maintenance practices, who will determine this would possibly not ensue interior the ANWR? and those statistics are exceedingly inflated, there has been analyze performed to teach that drilling interior the ANWR would not make that loads of a distinction to the place it may be properly worth it. ultimately, the item additionally fails to point out that oil expenditures are as intense as they are because of the fact oil expenditures are desperate to an quantity by way of OPEC and OPEC countries are no longer purely specially countries the U. S. isn't on the main suitable words with; yet additionally place limits on how plenty oil each and each united states can produce as a manner to maintain industry demands the place they are. there grow to be additionally a modern information article on Yahoo, that the Saudi's admitted that interior the 1990's whilst oil grow to be fifty 4.00 a barrel that even that cost grow to be too intense.
