It's a good question. The suffixes "inho" on a personal name is an affectionate way of calling someone you like. Nothing todo with male-female love, mind you. If my son is called Jhon or Joao in Portuguese, by calling him Joaozinho I am telling my son. Between good friends it is still an affectionate way of calling a friend.
As for the language, the Portugauese of Brazil and of Portugal is identical in every respect. Only a Portuguese or a Brazilian would detect any diffeences which are really small, subtle. Slang differs tremendously from European Portuguese to Brazil's Portuguese.
Not so much an example but more anology than example, the english in the USA and the one in England. Or I guess the spanish of Spain and of, say Argentina.

Yes, it's the same language as you observed. There are about 11 distinct dialects in Brazil and about nine in Portugal. A unique one in Brazil is a combination with Creole; while a unique one in Portugal is Galician (shared by Northern Spain and Portugal).

No way, they are very similar but are not the same... someone from Portugal can fully undestand a brazilian, but a brazilian has some dificulties to undestand someone from Portugal...

words such as "bread" are very different... in Brazil we say "pão" in Portugal they say "cacete"......
