Have you noticed that people in our times want everything all at once, without having to earn the right to have it?

Delayed gratification deserves respect - and more use. Realization seldom matches anticipation, but it's the "getting there" that's most of the fun, anyway.
What's easily and quickly gained is lightly valued.

It certainly seems that way doesn't it. I think part of the problem lies with so much technology making everything instant. While it has made our lives easier in a lot of ways, it's also caused society to be less compassionate and patient. I think a return to delayed gratification is a positive thing.

Delayed gratification is often useful and even necessary, and by choosing immediate gratification over delayed gratification, we often choose the lesser of two options. Yet delayed gratification in and of itself is not something to be desired or respected. We can recognize that often it leads to greater things, yet it is not itself something greater.

According the Dr Scott Peck in his work "Road Less Traveled"
delayed gratification is a very important element in discipline.
With some discipline I can accomplish some things, but will total discipline I can accomplish all problems.

Immediacy is important in an emergency.

In the case of earning the right to something or appreciating things you have gotten, it is usually best to get them at a pace that allows you to know the true worth of your desires.

Yes, the times now have changed a great deal. DIff morals and values are being discarded and in with new ones. I think it all comes down to people just not having PLAIN- PATIENCE in life!.
The world has made people's everyday lives EASY with computers and etc.

we're animals, imediate gratification is always preferred, to expect anything different appears to be outside of the realm of reality.
