The answer is probably no. Reason being that everything a nation does is self serving. It will and probably should be that way. The only thing was that before the current set of leaders, there was an attempt to bring about consensus among the world leaders and to always ensure that you have the moral high ground. Whereas now, atleast in the minds of many, you have lost that moral high ground and now it seems theres a lot of nutcases out there fomenting violence in the name of hurting Americas interests. So safer, I dont think so. You have made yourself more vulnerable by being the worlds policeman and maybe made things tougher securitywise around the world as well.

yes & no.

Though I cant imagine in what way U.S is making the world safer, I see the U.S's decisions are very very biassed and mostly self sake when it tries to support or fight with a country. In many situations I do not see it having a genuine interest in it trying to make the world safer. As a result of its activity sometime it is making the world safe and sometimes dangerous. Every nation has the right to take care of themselves. I feel U.S shouldnt probe in unnecessarily. It feels like U.S bullies the smaller nations easily. It is very frightening that many countries do not have a individual freedom and just have to nod for everything that U.S says even if it is to kill millions of people. I dont see it safe. And I also think that for U.S to say that countries like India shouldnt use nuclear energy for wars, it should stop doing that first. When U.S wishes to protect it is own country with it why not others. Many countries are pushed into it even if they dont need to just becos they can be attacked with it. So in that case U.S is making the world dangerous.

More dangerous. Just look at how Kim Jong Ill's going nuts just because Bush named North Korea as part of the "Axis of Evil." Now that the US has attacked Iraq and is poised to attack Iran, I don't blame North Korea for feeling a need to prove themselves and send a warming to the trigger-happy Bush. OK, I'm American, but I still felt I had to respond.
