Go to your printers properties and set the default to draft printing. Otherwise, each time you print , clk on properties when the print box comes up and set it to draft or normal.
You can go to www.HP.com, clk on the link for tech help and you can email the problem to them and get a solution reply.
This is free, even out of warranty HP products.

Most likely there is nothing wrong with the printer, it's just that you either have the wrong paper in use, or you don't have it set for your paper type. Read the manual more info.

I had the same problem with my photosmart 2610. What was wrong was the paper type was set wrong. There's also a setting for more or less ink in the setup menu.
