So my friend and I got back our AP scores recently. I got a 3 and she got a 4. My whole life I've been known for being smart and really good in school. Throughout the year, I got a better grade than her in the class by at least 10%, and now, after seeing these scores, I'm really upset. I can't stop crying. I can't even be happy for her! Whats wrong with me?

Need to calm down. This is just a test, it isnt that big of a deal. I would be happy for my friend, and look at the bright side, you passed too...sadly I did not. But hey, I am not cryin about it, even though I too was the smartest kid in the class. You need to let it go and enjoy your summer while you can before school begins, wherever that may be(hopefully UC Berkeley...GO Bears).

AP tests are pretty wacky things, you know! You always expect certain people to score high.. in fact, you'd bet your savings on it. But then somehow they mess up something and didn't notice maybe? Maybe you slipped on a multiple choice question and screwed up the sheet? Or maybe you answered too many questions and got the quarter points taken away? There's a lot of things that could've gone wrong. maybe your graders were absolutely crazy, for example. I know people who've gotten almost all A's and study for hours on end like a wacko and know and analyze information beautifully but they didn't score as I expected.
So yeah. Just chillax and realize that the AP test is a test.. and that's all. It's not an indicator of how smart or studious you are. Besides, you passed! College credit (well, yeha, depending on your college of choice)! Woo! There are people who would do a lot for just a score of 3. And maybe your friend knows the material better than you think.. and just did poorly on tests in class? Just ask her to spread the good luck around.

is it really the end of the world now?! Relax girl. Tests don't say a thing. Maybe the day that the test was taken you were too focused on being perfect, **** happens, DOES NOT mean you are dumb honey. You know you have the brains right? SO WHAT you scored less than your friend? Don't be happy for her unless it's meant. There is so much going on in the world, don't focus on that stupid number. YOU know better.

Sounds like you are very selfish if you cannot even be happy for her. Maybe find a friend that is not so smart so you can beat them all the time and feel you are better than them.
That or hold your head up, be happy for your friend and beat her the next time.

you are not defined by that score. it is not who you are. you are so much more than that. it is just a number that nobody will even care about in 10 years.
