Its not recommended. Its kinda like taking birth control when your pregnant. It still gets to the baby cause you are giving it everything you are intaking. By the way i hope all goes well!

There's a pill, but it's the "mini-pill" that *must* be taken at the same time every day. It's progestin only, so it's milder than the "normal" pills and supposedly safer for breastfeeding moms. If you're forgetful, it's not a good option. (I'm forgetful, so I didn't use it.)
I don't like any of the hormone methods; aside from having unknown effects on the baby (because they can't test for that), they can screw with your moods, your libido, your weight, and your metabolism. Depo scares mel; it can take a couple of years to wear off, and I want more control over my body than that. The week-long patch sounds also scary. But you could research them (google is your friend) and find out if they sound good to you.
I got a copper-T IUD, and I'm very happy with it. Seven years and counting; I've got three more before I need to get it replaced. For those who don't want the semi-permanent solution, there's condoms (which are something of a hassle), diaphragms (less hassle, because you can put them in hours before) and jellies and creams (more hassle, but don't interfere with sensation); I can't remember if the sponge is still available or not.

i dont really know but i do know that your not gonns be having sex for atleast 6 weeks cause your gonna be in to it so u do have some time to decide you could alwas go with an IUD when your body heals or even do the depoprevara shot its once every three months and its given to you in the hip but you should ask your lactation nurse and doctor to see what they say cause you could over dose the baby with hormones. good luck ok and congratulations.

IUD is the best if u are breastfeeding. Depo Provera got hormones and they got directly to the milk, pills the same, so the IUD is the best option for u, ask for it to ur doc. ;-)

for sexing very soon after you give birth, there's always the female condom -- or, for that matter, the male condom
it may seem a little odd, but just after giving birth, you'll be at your peak fertility
practiced carefully, the rythm method integrated with checks of you vaginal mucus is extremely effective in preventing unwanted pregnancy -- not quite as effective as abstinence, but almost
best wishes to you all

A copper IUD would be fine. It's 1:30 a.m. here and I'm about to die of exhaustion, LOL, so I don't have the energy to write about how much I love mine. :) Go to www.paragard.com It's AWESOME! Non-hormonal is the best benefit.

A few hours after I had my daughter, my dr gave me the Depo-Provera shot. It is wonderful, the only side effect is I don't have a period. Not really a bad side effect if you ask me. I breastfed my baby also and she had no ill effects. It is not harmful and does not pass through to breast milk.

The deprovera shot should be safe while breastfeeding. Check with your doc to be sure
