it's the same as why some ppl have darker skin and some, lighter skin colour. Long long time ago, before boats ships aeroplanes and submarines were built, Large groups of humans migrated to different areas with different environmental conditions and stay there. over time they would develop adaptations to suit that environment.

Big nose ppl used to live in cold places. So when they breath in the cold air, it circulates in the.. space, warming it up before going into the lungs. By warming the air, it protects the lining of ur lungs from shriveling up in the cold :P

Small nose ppl would hve come from warmer places. Since the air they'r breathing is already warm, there's no need to warm it up further so they do not need the extra space hence they have a smaller nose.

And ppl in between these extremes would have noses of different sizes! XD

I've read that wide or narrow noses, full or flat noses, big or small were developed by our distant ancestors in response to the average temperature and humidity around them.

It's what's in your genetic code. 1+1=2 not 3. Although, with cosmetic surgery, these things are not absolute.
