There's no jobs where I am, let alone low-paying ones. I can't afford to work for low pay anyways, when I am over 40, have a good education, good work history and two kids and mortgage ... I think employers are trying to bring young people in personally to take the higher spots, as opposed to hiring some of the people who are not quite ready to retire to at least do something for the rest of our productive years.

Discrimination is sadly a truth in every society. You must exert more efforts to improve your value. This requires bravery and courage to have good results.
Illegals must also make a living. Since they cannot have an employment and earn legally, they must charge cheaper. Most people do not want to spend more if they can get things at lesser price.
Just accept these truths.

Don't take this the wrong way but...If you're an illegal, why not go back to your home country. I'm sure you can find meaningful employment there. I'm legal and nobody wants to pay me what I'm worth, maybe I'll go to your country and fill in the gap you left behind!!!

If you are educated and not hired, then you are applying at the wrong places. You need to be picky where you apply. If you think you are not being hired because of an illegal immigrant, there are labor laws against this and its easy to prove. Good luck!

Ok, since illegal immigrants are usually doing manual labor and other crappy jobs I don't see how this could possibly cause a problem for you. Maybe it's because you can't use correct grammar and spelling.
