rock star...hmm.
Elvis, cause he started the ball of wax rollin...

not my fav, but he did kick things off...braved a new frontier, tolerated heavy criticism, and kept his own style...{which is the spirit that birthed rock music}

IMHO...Phil Collins is one of the greatest, as is Eddie VanHalen...both took playing their instruments, to a whole new level......

my personal favorite: Slash!

but as for the greatest... jimi hendrix, he did things that no one thought possible on the guitar, and john lennon was extremely influential, and led zeppelin was just flippin amazing, easily the best band like.. ever...

i would have to say there is no one rock star that is the greatest because so many greatly talented artists contributed to so many aspects of the general greatness, but definitely no one new to the industry is anywhere near the greatest...

There IS "no greatest" theres only opinion! In MINE, I`d have to say the whole band RUSH. These guys each have more talent in their little fingers than most bands put together! But, that`s just MY opinion!

Jimmy Page of Led Zeppelin! Amazing legendary guitarist, so many other bands used him for session work on their albums, could play so many different stringed instruments, great stage presence, great record producer. And very rich as a result. I never get tired of listening to his music.
