Where the producers trying to make a statement about his sexuality?

It was for just a joke...the main hangout was Arnold's, and when they needed to discuss something they went into Fonzie's "office". The phone was red because Al said that it matched the walls.

No, all of the others are wrong; it was because that's where he took all of the girls to make out with them- it's where he"worked". And yes, they were making a statement about sex, just not sexuality.

Because, with the mentality of the show and his character, it was the best place for it!! I'm sorry, but that show was just too campy, with he always showing up at the last minute to save his nerd friends from the bullies!!

In the later shows, he actually had a desk and a phone in there. My question is why did he have a red phone. Was he Milwaukee's version of commissioner Gordon or what?
