I signed up for a small, rural half marathon in August. No distractions, no hoopla, just a few hundred of us in Illinois farm country. Let's just hope everyone keeps their farm dogs put away that morning...

Being that we are hard core runners in this household, we have at least one race a month coming up. We did a 5k in Huntington Beach today. We are trying to decide whether to the Bastille Day or Keep LA running race in two weeks. We will do the Distance Derby on Aug. 19th then drive down to San Diego to do the America's Finest City 1/2 marathon the next day.
I'm very much looking forward to doing Run to the Top of Mount Baldy on Labor Day. The last time I did it was 22 years ago when I was pregnant with my oldest son. I am trying talk him into doing with me since he was with me the first time I did it. I think that would be really cool! I also look forward to doing the inaugural San Jose Rock 'n Roll Half Marathon in October. I won a free entry to it! My sister lives there and I have never been to the house she lives in now so I look forward to visiting her.

Good luck on your half!

Well Turtle Girl - its like this... I run a 5 mile bridge every other day, but its getting pretty boring.. Maybe I should look into doing some road races. Thanks for making me think to take my running in a different direction. Road races - it never really dawned on me!
