I am conservative, and I think they are nuts. So, are they some radical socialist nut-job group?

Racist paramilitary extremist groups are not my idea of patriots. There is a real war going on, and we are distracted from the trully evil people out there, like Al-Quaida.
If you don't like people that work to live off the system, cut off our poor and shiftless.
I could care less if Pedro wants to go pick lettuce for you West Coast traitors. At least the man has a real job, and is benificial to society, not some loser getting stoned in his moms basement, typing hatred messages on the internet.

Oh yeah, Here in Buffalo, our illegal aliens are white Canadians. I havn't seen any chapters of minutemen spring up to protect the border that the terrorists use.

If you think that, then you listen to too many liberals. Or maybe you are ignorant about why they are there.

Thanks for the email Kamkurtz. Your additonal information wasn't up yet when I replied with my first answer. So all I had to go on are your statement that you think they are nuts and asking rhetorically if they are socialist nut-jobs, convincing me that you have already pre-judged.

Fact is, according to all reports I have heard, including statements of their leaders, they do nothing but be there and call the Border Patrol. No contact is allowed, no talking, no confrontation. They do provide water if asked.

What I don't understand is that you don't care that poor indigent illegals come to this country and get free medical and other services. Who do you think pays for this stuff? Vicente Fox?

Do you realize that wages for some jobs are now so low that Americans can't feed their families because the illegals will take the cheap labor jobs?

Lastly, didn't the immigration demonstrations give you a clue that most of these people don't identify with this country? They aren't here with the idea of assimilation or the American Dream. They are here only for the money to send back to their families who support Vicente Fox's failed economy.

Divide and conquer -- the elites in Washington have influenced the Minutemen into "defending" our border against the people who should be the Minutemen's natural allies. If the Minutemen were wise and really wanted to defend the country, they'd get involved in the global economy so that people in other countries wouldn't be so desperate for survival that they'll risk death just to get into our country.

I don't think that they're nutjobs; I just think that they don't understand the big picture. Not that they can't, they just don't.

I'm a conservative also and I think it's too bad the minute men aren't a much larger force. It would be nice if all the rest of us would get up off our behinds and stand up for what is right.

They aren't hurting anyone, so whats the problem with Americans defending their country from an invasion? They haven't fired a shot and yet they've helped capture who knows how many illegals. Maybe even an illegal who would like to rape your daughter.

As Americans, we agree to a contract with our government, we vote, pay taxes, and don't go out and patrol for criminals (vigilantism) and in return our government is supposed to protect us. As far as I can tell the government has not fulfilled its part of the contract so groups such as the Minutemen are now rightfully doing what the government is unable to do....protect us. This same arguement can be used for gun control.

As far as I can tell they are not arresting or harming the illeagals so why are people against what they are doing? Let them be.

I think they are doing a marvelous job. Imagine volunteers from all walks of life going to defend ouor borders in the simplest manner you can think of; just being there. I am proud of them and any conservative who calls themselves a conservative should be rooting mightly for the Minutemen and applauding them at every chance. It is volunteers such as these that make America great.

I think I would have a lot more respect for them if they were there 24/7 but a large majority of them are weekend warriors who are playing pretend commando to make themselves feel good. They go out there and make a difference.....8 hours a weekend( and when it doesn't conflict with a paintball match ). Also I think they might be perceived better if they were to pass out pamphlets in Spanish explaining to the immigrants the proper way to legally enter our country, at least that way they would know where to start legally. But many people like it, in this era of heightened fear , it makes them feel 'safer' and since we are so scared we also feel its the right thing to do.

Not at all. I know one of them. They are very normal patriotic citizens of the united states. They actually help the immigrants they encounter. Bush, for wome unknown reason is for open borders. The Minute Men are taking it in their hands to do the governments job. All non-violently and with good intentions. Are you sure you are conservative?

The current Minute Men are neither "socialists" nor "nut-jobs." They are US citizens trying to help keep illegals from flowing into our country. Maybe you are a conservative, maybe not, but they are only acting on what many of us are thinking - stop illegal immigration; the tax payers cannot afford it. Visit: http://www.minutemanhq.com/hq/

They are just people trying to keep trespasser off their land.

Where is the conservationist outrage when desert ecosystems are being destroyed by groups of illegals trampling plants and leaving litter. Would they protest it the illegals were trampling ANWAR? No
