I loved it...but (call me ignorant) what's exactly it's mission? I know they've got to go to the Space Station...but to do what?

Yes i did..it was such an awesome sight...it just took less than 10 mins for it to reach its orbit....how awesome is that?!!!!

They are carrying a resupply module for the station. They will also assist in a repair and installation spacewalk while there. Thy are also carrying a crew member up for an extended stay. During the mission they will continue to work on repair and inspections of the shuttle

I saw it on NASA's site and on television.
Best display on this 4th of July!
Another test of the shuttle systems and capabilities is underway.
That booster was powerful.

continue experiments of weight loss and its effects on plant and animal life and all bacteria! to replenish supplies on the space station!
