I have four dogs and two cats. My dogs are all pound puppies - rescues from shelters. All four of them would have died if I hadn't brought them home. Here's a brief description of each:
Guinevere - 4 year old rottweiler/chow mix. Had parvo when I got her - her brother died at the pound, but she survived.
Pippin - 4 year old Lab/Pit bull mix. Weighed 15 pounds when I got her, and should have been 25-30.
Buddy - 6 year old lab/mastiff mix. Was so big nobody wanted to take him home from the pound, so they had scheduled him to be put down the day after I brought him home.
Chili - 18 month old lab/beagle mix. Another pound puppy, but she was healthy when I got her.

We also have two cats, but their stories aren't as interesting...one is a Maine coon cat, calico, named Harley, and the other is a Siamese mix named Sweet Pea. She rules the roost - all six pounds of her.

I have a smooth haired black and tan dachshund named Professor. We picked a dachshund because my husband didn't want a dog that needed grooming and didn't want a fufu looking dog. I wanted a small dog, that would be happy spending a lot of time in my lap or next to me on the couch if I was reading. So, the only thing that really fit both of our tastes was a dachshund. She's perfect too. She is all the things we were looking for. We got her when she was a puppy and she's 6 and 1/2 now. She is the princess.

We also have 2 cats that were strays or dumped or something. They adopted us. And we are glad they did. One is a gray tabby named Isis. She spends most of the time in the house ordering our daughter around. She's about 7 years old. The other is a black cat named Frigg. She terrorizes all birds and rodents in the neighborhood. the unfortunate ones end up half-eaten and deposited on our front doorstep. She's about 6 years old.

Okay, I'll stop now. I love talking about my pets.

I have a pacu which is a tropical fish who has grown to 16" long and to think I chose him thinking he would stay at least medium sized and thought he was cute and today think he is beautiful. I also have parakeets and cockatails. I started out with one couple of each and then they had babies and I got them each a partner and now have lets say lots. They multiply like rabbits. The cockatails I love for thier little top knots and how friendly they are at least when you give them plenty of attention. They too have now had babies which I cant seem to get rid of because I am afraid someone else wont care for them the way I do. Then there are my two male cats. One the neighborhood kids brought to me years ago when he was a tiny kitten. They had found him in a box along with another one but the other one was dead. SOme one had thrown them out. Then last year my son brought home a tiny kitten that was in the middle of the road. They both have turned out to be very good cats. Then there are my dogs. Which are Dobies. The male is my favorite and his son sadly I just cant warm up to female animals but I still love the female. The male is more like my shadow and my best friend and am having alittle trouble with him and his son fighting over my attention which makes alittle extra work to making sure they both get some. I dont treat any of them like dogs or cats they are all part of the family so they do have rules they learn to follow. I chose Dobermans because they are so smart and loving along with being very protective.

Grrrfriend is jawsie a 10 year old chow /collie cross. We interviewed many adult dogs befor we met Jawsie. She just fits this family fine. She is way to spoiled and opinionated and can pout way better than our teenager. Then there are One Nut aka Rev Sharpton aka Kitty Bob aka wicket who was sent home with my teenage son. A fine specimen of a cat dressed in black with a white collar and a know-it-all attitude. Then again there is Miss Haley a little, little longhaired black and white girl kitty who was found in a parking lot. Someone had kicked her in the face and she is missing her bottom lip. Has a profile like Marge Simpson. Jawsie still thinks she is a baby even though she is way over a year. She'll push the old dog away from her bowl in a heartbeat or run up to that big plume tail and beat the snot out of it. . Then there is Elvis a green Indian Ringneck about 12 years old. He likes to watch TV and whistle. Not one of the was picked, they all did the choosing. We should feel honored!? Yeah, we really do.

I have a dog named Max who is a mutt. When I was seventeen I found him outside of a YMCA beaten and bloody. We took him to the pound across the street where they revealed that he was 4 weeks old and would be put to sleep. Could not believe they would so such a thing so I took him under my wing and he is now a great dog of almost five.
I also have sugar gliders, which are related to the flying squirrel and look alot like tiny bats. They are adorable and can be taught many tricks. I chose them because they are exotic and very loving.
I also have a miniature Chihuahua named Cookie. My fiance got him for me for my birthday and I named him cookie because it is a family thing. My mother has a Chihuahua named Oreo, my brother has a dog named Milk and my sister has a rabbit named Chocolate. Silly I know but we cherish our animals and my fiance and I even put them in our engagement announcements.
My last pets name is Tanner he is my fiance and of the monkey species. I chose him because he is always there for me like a cat, loyal like a dog, and well I just cant help loving the guy

I have a Chinese Dwarf Hamster, They are so cute and small.. They look like rats but they are much nicer.. Her name is Precious..

A Black/White and Gray rabbit, she is soo nice and cute! But when she has to take a bath, I have to wear my tank top and short (sleepwear) and jump into the tub too.. Because she is so scared of water.. Her name is Sapphire..

Two Zebra Finches, they make a lot of nosie if messed with.. Especially at night.. SO I have to put a blanket over their cage.. Their names is Sammie and Sabrina.. One is a boy, other is girl..

A African Grey Parrot: She is 2 years... Did you know they live for 125 years? She talks to me a lot.. But not like no ordinary parrot! She can actually ask you questions.. or she can answer.. She can eat anything we eat except chocolate and candy.. Her name is Symone..

I bought Sapphire because they was about to skinned her.. So I bought her! :)

The rest was just to buy! I'm a animal person!

We didnt choose ours, they seem to have somehow chosen us.

Our Maine Coone cat we found in a natural green area, so small and starving he could fit in the palm of your hand, with eyes running and half sealed, and burrs in his coat. We have had him 6+years now, and he is our young daughters best friend:)

Our other cat is a purebed siamese that was given to me as a gift from a family member; I never would have chosen a Siamese or any purebred anything, but he is my "baby" and "talks" to me and follows me around the house, and greets me at the door. he and our other cat are best of friends and curl up together all the time. They are also known to call each other from the other side of the house, the other will answer and they will meet up:)

We have a German Shepherd named Shane. He came to us when he was 2 & a half. The family who had him from a pup couldn't accomadate his size (about 30 inches at the shoulder & about 100 pounds). He went to our neighbors house first & ended up meeting us by walking through our front door after jumping the fence at our neighbors. I guess he chose us.
We also have 2 female dilute calico cats who are sisters. My neighbor is a vet tech & knew we were looking for a cat. A coworker of hers had a litter which she needed to disperse. We were going to get just one when my neighbor called & said there were 2 sisters left & they didn't like to be separated. I wrote sucker across my forehead & have not ever regretted my decision. They are named Nala & Kiki.
