It is up to you how to word it, but you should definitely address the three year gap on your resume. If you don't acknowledge it in some way, potential employers may wonder why and they may not select you for the interview stage. What you write on your resume, doesn't have to be long or funny (it is a resume after all). Briefly state that from 2003- 2006 you were a Stay at home mom/ or Homemaker/ Caregiver to your young child. You may also want to mention in your cover letter that you stayed at home to raise your child for the past three years. She/he is now going to day care/ nursery school full time and you are anxious to return to the work force. Good luck!

Try listing the job as a private placement senior technical advisor responsible for programs development, implementation and coordination of motor skills advancement, 24 hour on call nutritional consultation and bio-social adaptation implementation for a local socio-development program sponsored by a private group.

You can use the term "homemaker" and list the qualifications and job responsibilities for being a stay at home mom. There are other good ideas listed here, like saying stay at home mom, or explaining that you took a sebactical.

That information is not necessary in your resume. But I guess if you're applying for a baby sitter, it would make sense.
