I'm with many of these people... I feel it's rather rude of you implying that the only "mature music" is this independent alt country rock and alt folk music. In fact, I find it quite immature of you which gives you the atmosphere of one with a mental age of 12. But that's just my opinion, maybe next time you can cool it with the bite and be a bit softer.
Other than that I'm sure your indepentdent alt country rock and alt folk is just fabulous, although I would definitely not prefer it.
No offense!

I'm way over the mental age of 12 but the Alt Country rock scene I like is probably not in your tastes with groups like cross canadian ragweed being one.
What you are into is more of an Americana scene.. some are good but most seem to drag for me.
But a great americana show done by the british of all people that you can listen to anytime is :

so your definition of "musical taste over the mental age of 12" is you must know and like Alt country rock and alt folk? That would be like me saying if it ain't classical it's babyish. Grow up! Musical taste is just that. There is no mental age to this or that just preference.

The constant evolution of music and artists keeps me interested in music. I hate listening to the same song done over and over again....you know same beat, same chords, different artisan. I've never been a fan of country music but as it has come to cross over into a more rock sound I have found myself enjoying it. As far as folk music goes I have always been impressed and entertained by the story telling and meaning behind the music. Again, the evolution of folk music has really kept me interested and thoroughly entertained.

Not a huge fan of the alt country genre but its not like I'm jamming Kid Bopz Vol. IV on a Sponge Bob CD player either.I can't stand music snobs that insist on slamming everything but what they are into this week.

You don't have to like country and folk to have musical taste over the mental age of 12...or maybe you just have musical taste over the age of...100? Yea, maybe that's it.

Like almost all things in the last few years - its a fad. Just record execs grasping at straws because there is such a huge abyss of talent and originality out there.

I'm a huge fan of all era's of rock (except emo and punk), I love ska, blues, reggee, old rythem and blues. It's important to have versitility in music. I'm not familiar with this scene your talking about.
