uhhhh-copper tubbing? hmmmm-not real sure what that is. copper TUBING can be bought at almost any building supply store

You can try a hardware store like Home Depot or Lowe's. If it's not there for some reason, then there are plumbing stores that sell such tubing. But I doubt you would have to go that far.

thats a pretty large size. Do most home centers readily supply it? ive seen 1" maybe 1.5" but i dont recall ever seeing anything bigger, since most larger sizes are PVC these days. Or am i thinking of something else?

Are you trying to obtain some? OR do you want to know where they are used?

If it is the latter, I think they are used in large ADSORPTION (yes, that word is adsorption, not absorption) system used for refrigeration.
