If you're done with the postpartum bleeding, and all your stitches have healed, it's ok to have sex. Most people say 6 weeks, because this is when they usually see their doctor for the post-partum checkup. If you're not sure, you can always call your doctor's office to double check.

Your body needs to heal. Ripping open unhealed stitches will not only cause pain, but can lead to infection & death.

Not only that, but sex too soon- even without a C-section - before a woman's body has completely healed, can also lead to a uterine infection - these can be deadly.;

Let me start off by saying I'm very sorry for the loss of your baby.

There is medical reasons to wait on having sex. When you go into labor your cervix starts to thin and open up so that the baby can come out. If you end up with a c-section, your cervix has still opened up.

You want to wait on sex because you don't want to get an infection. With the cervix open, infections can get through easier. Depending on how open your cervix was and how quickly it closed would depend on when you could have sex.

Your best bet is to talk with your doctor about when it would be ok to have sex. When you go in for your check up, is when he/she usually checks the cervix and will let you know if it is ok or not.

Being that you had a c-section you also need time for the stitches to heal...inside and out. You had 3 layers that were cut through (skin, muscle, and uterus) and all need to heal well. A couple of more weeks holding off on sex may be hard for you during this time that you probably need the closeness of your husband/boyfriend, but for your own health you need to do it.

Please talk to someone about your loss of the baby. Loosing a baby at any time during your pregnancy is tramatic; however, having a still-born one can be very, very hard. Try to grieve for the loss of this baby before trying for another one. Another baby can not replace the one that died. That one can never be replaced. Don't put a new baby in that position. Love it for who it is, just as you loved the one that died.

Blessings to you.

Your body is still coming back together on the inside. even if you had a c-section there is no doubt your organs and everything are switching back in place...not to mention the intense bleeding. Just wait it out...it's worth it.

you still have an incision that has to heal. six weeks is the usual so your body can re-adjust - a lot of organs were all smushed for a long time!

Its mostly to wait if you have a vaginal birth to let the area heal...I don't think that its such a problem if you have a c-section.

You have to give your body time to heal....inside and out....and if your baby was still-born ...then you need time yourself...that is something you just can't get over..

YES! there's a huge reason.....you could get pregnant again before your body has time to heal.
