Sell any furniture that is not a family heirloom and buy new.
The TV and VCR's are different in USA and will also need to be changed.
Look at http://www.ups.com or http://www.fedex.com/
for shipping information

RoadWay freight forwarders is a good outfit to work with... i think they ship world wide, have reasonable rates, and a great network of trucking/shipping companies to get things most anywhere...
if you have a friend that imports items in bulk from out of country, ask if you can tag your shipment along with theirs at a discounted rate...

The safest and fastest way is to call UPS or FED EX.

They will handle everything. They're good! They will give you all the answers to all of your questions too.

They ship furniture too. They will even package it for you and it will arrive, in tact!

Cargo ships are slow, expensive and careless.
